RSS Feed Update — December 1st, 2011

— The Doctor Who-related Virgin Territory section has been extensively redesigned for easier use and quicker loading times. Rather than the booklist consisting of one gargantuan page with tons of images, each book now has its own individual page, and each index is now a separate page as well. It’s also now possible to click on any author or artist name to see a list of all of the other Doctor Who work which they did for Virgin Publishing.

— New Updates page added. This gives a short summary of all changes made to This Space Rubbish blog will still be used to discuss these changes in greater depth and to make other announcements. The Updates page is intended to give regular visitors a page where they can drop by every now and then to see what’s new just at a glance, rather than having to wade through my rambling blog entries.

Credits page udpated (mostly adding new items to the “Web-Development Tools” section at the top).

Sevagram Links page udpated to include Roger Russel’s site and the Yahoo discussion group.

I’ve also made numerous refinements of the site’s overall design, and made some radical behind-the-scenes technical improvements in how the site works, which make the entire site even easier to maintain and expand. However, something may have fallen throught the cracks despite my best efforts, so if you find that something doesn’t work, please let me know.

In other news, Magnus Axelsson’s classic A.E. van Vogt website The Weird Worlds of A.E. van Vogt will soon be moving to its new home on This was the internet’s first website dealing with van Vogt, and was the gathering place for van Vogt fans in the early days of the internet. Sadly, though, it’s no longer being updated, as Magnus has moved on to other pursuits. Up till now, Magnus has nonetheless continued to host these pages on the ISP he used to work for, but he cannot keep it there indefinitely now that he no longer works for them. Since it’s such an important and beautifully-made website — and it’s no exagerration to say that it’s what inspired me to start a website of my own — I’m delighted and honored to be able to host his site for him.

The next update to should appear some time in late January. Until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!
